Official, unofficial and novelty: three different documents

An official transcript is issued by the school's records office and sent sealed or certified so it cannot be altered; an unofficial transcript is the same record printed or downloaded by you. Novelty transcripts are made for each level — associate USD 109, bachelor's USD 129, master's USD 154, Ph.D. or J.D. USD 190 — and each can show academic honors and an optional minor alongside the degree and major. Checking the proof

The proof is where a transcript is won or lost, because it carries far more text than a diploma. Read every course title against your list, check the grades and credits line by line, confirm the cumulative GPA and the issue date, and check the spelling of the school's address and your own. Changes at the proof stage are free; a transcript printed with one wrong grade is not.
